HTML/CSS vs Flash

Now having done some basic flash and have an understanding for the program, i defiantly see how beneficial it will be for me. Its allot like DreamWeaver as you just click and drag to create and then tweak to get the way you want it, but with flash you can bring things to life and can use it for so many different applications.
Creating an entire web page in flash isn't the best idea. As flash can break down on you from time to time. If your entire site was flash then you wouldn't really have a site for that downtime which people really cant afford. Not to mention it takes quite a bit longer to load the page, which is why i would still go with html and css. There are already so many options using them and your site will be way quicker to access and you wont need to worry about it not working from time to time. I think i will just add a little flash here and there to my websites to keep good functionality and to add flair or some fun to it.

DreamWeaver

I really enjoyed using dream weaver. Compared to using notepad++ its much easier and more enjoyable. there are drawbacks to such a nice program and that is losing touch with the code thats is used to create it. Its nice to now get a refresher on the code we learned a while back. Seeing it now as were writing it makes more sense to me again knowing what more things do. Since im comparing the two ways of doing it, right now i would much rather work with Dreamweaver than come up with code from scratch. Im sure the more i do things there more my opinions of the ways of coding would change.

Databases

We spent a few weeks learning databases and it really makes you think of how programs are involved with databases. Coming into this with no previous experience was different again from all the other things we have gone through so far but i go into it, i think it helps knowing how useful it is and the fact that i will probably do it down the road still.
Another database that would be quite useful to build would be for the automotive shop i work at. A program that would involve the employee, customers, bills, shop rates the options are really endless. I know there are many programs already like that out there already but it would be neat to program my own of course.
Not something i would want to fill all my days doing but i think it will be a definite asset towards the job hunt shortly down the road.

Programming... Can You Tell I'm New?

We just finished our first programming course with C# coding. This is a definite first for me, i have never programmed or even come close in my background. I found it very difficult to get the hang of and it takes lots of time and patients to say the least. I do look forward to using it in the future because it has lots of different applications that you can create from nothing. Between the design and programming i can defiantly enjoy the design portion more than the programming, but as i learn more i may change my mind, to which i may prefer. Nothing can be set in stone at this point as to preferences on this educational journey i'm on, your eyes are being opened to new and different things every day. The programming is very specific to what you need to write to make a program, let alone make it run. Interested to see where it progresses to.

Photoshop still on top...

We've now touched on Photoshop, After Effects and now finished Premiere Pro. I still have to say Photoshop by far the most useful and so far the most applicable to the program. I guess i just don't really find editing movies very "fun" for myself but i defiantly have some useful knowledge about editing in Premiere Pro. Now as for After Effects, i might see myself playing with it or using it for small animated things. Either way as far as programs go, still in favor of Photoshop but we'll see as i learn more over this coming year.

I'm a client and i'm reflecting...

As a client for my last project, we had to pair up to make a design of the other persons choice to introduce us to what its like working with an actual client. I found something i really needed to work on was my verbalization, getting my thoughts out on to paper. Trying to explain to my partner what i was wanting out of my design was something that i thought would come allot easier than it did. It also got me thinking i should be a little more prepared next time when i need to come up with an idea and then try and explain to someone. This project helped with the little details of the prep work for being ready to work with a client that i had never actually done in this way. Keeping organized, punctual, and to try and keep the project moving forward at a good rate are just little things but very important.
My designer was nice to work with, i don't think it was her first time taking care of a client. She came in very personable and asking lots of constructive questions relating to my logo to get my creative thoughts flowing when i was having trouble getting my ideas getting my ideas out of my head. I think thats a nice quality in a designer is to be able to help articulate thoughts to make sure the client can be fully satisfied when its all said and done.
